The story

Classical roots. Jazz sensibility. Two decades in the classroom.

Gima built her classical foundation through formal conservatory training before making her way to the United States, where she studied music theory and jazz piano and performed in jazz ensembles.

That breadth — classical discipline, theoretical rigour, and the feel of jazz — is what makes her teaching distinct. She understands music from multiple directions, and that shows in how she explains it to children.

"A child who understands what they're playing will always outperform a child who is only copying notes."

Over two decades of teaching, she has worked with hundreds of students — from complete beginners at a keyboard for the first time, to students passing ABRSM exams with confidence. Every lesson here is a direct reflection of everything she has learned in that time.

Teaching philosophy

Three principles that shape every lesson.

🎯
Structure before speed

Every skill is built on a solid foundation before moving forward. Students don't rush through levels — they master each one. That's what produces musicians, not just performers.

🧠
Understanding over imitation

Children are taught why notes work, not just which notes to play. Theory and musicality are woven into every lesson so students can read, feel, and interpret music — not just reproduce it.

💬
Encouragement as a tool

Confidence is as teachable as technique. Lessons are designed to give students visible wins at every stage — so that the piano feels like a place they want to return to, not something they dread.

A note from Gima
"I've watched children arrive nervous, not knowing where to put their fingers — and leave years later performing pieces they're genuinely proud of. That transformation never gets old. Every lesson I design is built for that moment: the moment a child realises they can actually play."
